SEASONAL CHOIR
Forest Creek Folk – Seasonal Choir is a secular community choir with a focus on traditional folk, indie folk, and singer-songwriter based music. Our repertoire features rich, layered arrangements of songs by artists such as ALVVAYS, Adrienne Lenker, Fleet Foxes, The Staves, Gillian Welch, Bon Iver and many more.
Each season is shaped by a mix of traditional folk and contemporary influences. We typically include one traditional folk song, one Australian artist, and two folk-adjacent works, alongside opportunities to collaborate with guest artists and artist-in-residence programs.
We have collaborated with and performed alongside established musicians such as Hana Stretton and Lior.
We proudly welcome adults of all ages, genders, and identities and strive to create an inclusive, supportive space for everyone. To help maintain a focused rehearsal environment, sessions are an adults-only space.
While we don’t hold auditions or require you to read sheet music, Forest Creek Folk is best suited for singers who have some experience, as most of our repertoire is arranged in 3-5 part harmonies.
If Forest Creek Folk isn’t the best match for your current experience level, we warmly invite you to join All In Sing-our all-voices-welcome casual choir with no experience required.
The choir is led by songwriter and producer James McGuffie of Forest Creek Records (Music Coordinator) and freelance creative Dani Marano (Choir Coordinator). James guides the musical direction, arrangements, and vocal work, while Dani oversees administration, venue and memberships.
INFORMATION FOR SEASONAL CHOIR 2026:
SEASON 2: Wednesday nights Apr 29 -Jun 17. 8 wks. Membership: $105. New members are welcome to try a session before committing to the season. Memberships available here.
SEASON 3: Wednesday nights Jul 22 - Aug 26. 6 wks. Membership: $85
SEASON 4: Wednesday nights Oct 7 - Nov 25. 8 wks. Membership: $105
*All memberships are inclusive of booking and transaction fees.
Rehearsal Venue: Chewton Senior Citizen’s Centre on Djaara Country/ Chewton. Parking via Mount Street.
Time: Hall opens at 7pm. Rehearsal runs from 7.15pm-8.30pm.
Entry requirements: Singing experience recommended, as most of our repertoire is arranged in 3-5 part harmony. No auditions and No sheet music reading required.
What is provided: Each season we will provide you with printed lyric sheets and recordings for you to rehearse with in your own time. We use Samply for recordings and WhatsApp for all choir communication.
